RECAP: Sleepy Shred

Today’s Sapphic Shred was… sleepy.

We did not bring our usual snack table or fingerboard park.

But we still had fun!

Setting Up

This event was the first time I was not exactly nervous to get going. Cameron and I got this down to a science now, and with the less than favorable weather we had no trouble parking today. Before we get started, it’s important to note the community Sapphic Shred (or shred for short) has built over the past 6 months.

I was thrilled to hear members of the Shred recommending, helping, and advocating for other new friends they have met that day for their hobbies as well as old friends catching up with others on their endeavors. This is exactly what I envision when I say the everything club.

The Event

Activities today included mega bubble blowing, nail painting, wire wrapping, and face painting.

We also had the first ever Katterhaus Spikeball Pickup today with Violet & Indiana VS KC & Cameron. Cam and I have been practicing our serves so we were excited to play with a full group finally (spoiler: it makes so much more sense with 4 people!).

Violet actually taught us how to make Origami phone holders and crescent stars too (she even opened up a beer bottle with a piece of paper)!

Now, this month Sapphic Shred wouldn’t be complete without telling everyone about the new Women’s Tackle Football team, the Golden State Storm and passing around footballs.

Cameron and I have been to every home game and it has been an absolute banger every time we have gone. Having more women’s sports teams in the Bay Area like the Valkyries, the Storm, and the new Pro Volleyball Team blossom while I’ve lived here has been incredible to see. One of the biggest feats that have happened in Women’s Sports is the longest unpoppable bubble in the history of Dolores Park that happened at THIS Sapphic Shred — that’s right people we made history.

Shred ended up lasting from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, went through multiple weather cycles, and for the first time ever — Cameron and I’s phones both died so thank you to everyone who took photos to help us!

If you want to come to Sapphic Shred, I would love for you to come too of course, our next one will be May 24th, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Dolores Park.

This next one will be one you do not want to miss!

Be sure to check out all the photos below in this months photo gallery!

Last but not least, thank you so much for those who come to Sapphic Shred, who have come to Sapphic Shred’s Prior, and those who have loved the idea since its inception but who have not been able to come. Excited to be back next month for drumroll.. Shred 5.
