Review: Slushcult Grom 34mm Complete
After Testing the Slushcult x NoHours Board, Are The Slushcult GROM Fingerboards worth the Price?
The Slushcult x NoHours Lil’ Devil 34mm complete.
We rode the Slushcult x NoHours Lil’ Devil Fingerboard complete for the past month to check out what goes into the industry standard of fingerboarding - the Slushcult GROM.
At Katterhaus, we believe a comprehensive review of fingerboards available is necessary to have more people get into the hobby with little gatekeeping and judgment. We are writing about fingerboards in the hopes of inspiring others to buy quality boards to first kick off their fingerboarding career.
Overview
Slushcult was founded by Clayton Slushgod McCarthy in 2012 as a streetwear brand which eventually pivoted over to “ 90% Fingerboards, 10% clothes” (mood). In 2019 the Slushcult Mini Mart opened up in Santa Ana, California where community meetups like Bring Your Own Park (B.Y.O.P) and Shredder Mania take place outside of the storefront. The brand is a massive pillar in the fingerboarding community, including being a partner and cofounder of 2026 Fingerboard Con in Boston. Slushcult really has the community fusion down with dependable boards, which makes for a memorable, collective of fingerboarding rather than just a shop. One of the coolest things Slushcult has done I must say is the Pac-man Fingerboard Sesh in the summer of 2025, where they gave out 100 exclusive PAC-MAN inspired completes for the BANDAI NAMCO mascot’s 45th birthday.
Recently, Slushcult obstacles and mystery blind bag completes have become widely available at Zumiez locations all across the United States in addition to the Slushcult completes that have been on shelves before.
Now, the board we are reviewing today was a gift to me for the holidays (from an 80 year old lady mind you, thanks Noni), and I could not have been happier. I have bought myself a Slushcult or two before, but that was at the beginning of my fingerboarding journey — this one I can now truly appreciate, review, and enjoy as a lover of fingerboarding.
Let’s get started.

Parts Analysis
Those Trucks V2 by Slushcult: On both of the models we purchased from Slushcult look to have a similar design as the Teak Tuning Prodigy Gen2’s. However, these trucks seem heavier, more stable, and grant the board a solid range of motion for its size. I am a personal fan of the O-ring tuning Slushcult has over the bushings on other boards at this price point.
2 Pieces of GROM Grip Tape: The GROM comes with 2 pieces of Grip Tape that is only available with the GROM completes. This super soft grip tape breaks in fairly quickly and has great adhesive strength.
GROM Wheels by Slushcult: These 100D wheels are CNC lathed to look like real street skateboard wheels and are equipped with the same grooves. The wheels are plastic and are outfitted with single sided bearings.
5-ply Maple Deck: This Medium concave and Medium Kick board with a UV printing on the underside of the graphic of your choosing, we reviewed the Lil’ Devil Slushcult x NoHours Collab deck.
Tuning Tool: Black industry standard tuning tool included.

Riding
In terms of weight, the Slushcult Grom is the one entry fingerboard that truly feels like a skateboard in this price category. I enjoy the feel and ride of the board, and the grip tape despite its softness has enough stick to land tricks once worn in. This deck feels denser than other decks on the market and this makes the board feel like a real piece of skating hardware rather than a toy, a prime difference I have seen between other starter boards like from Teak Tuning or Spitboards.
While $30 may seem like a steep price to pay for a fingerboard complete, this is one of the most accessible and best value decks on the market with some of the most consistent, quality, cool board designs out there. The Slushcult is designed to grow with you, and the products are actually available both online and in the U.S. at Zumiez, which recently began to include obstacles and mystery blind bag completes.
The O-ring tuning with this style of truck is what separates the Slushcult from other brands.
The trucks stay fairly aligned and center, the screws through the baseplates are a solid height for grinds, and the deck is able to still look great through a few sessions of fingerskating. The pivot cups have sadly torn like on many other boards (they’re so tiny I can’t blame them) but have yet to fall out (win), and one of the O-ring bushings on the tail ripped on me near the end of reviewing — but totally fair considering how much this board has travelled in the past month.
Some outdoor conditions I rode in involved some debris and dirt, but the bearings have stayed smooth & well oiled (however not free spinning), and the wheels were weathered through use but not cracked. Slushcults are quite durable, I have actually dropped a Slushcult GROM from two stories high on accident, and the board survived with little damage.
The Keep a Breast x Slushcult board that I did drop out of a balcony.
I love using this board as my daily driver for fingerboarding activities, and can proudly say I really learned my Heelflip and varial heel flip on this board. The GROM definitely is a board for, well as the name suggests a GROM, but this board is for anyone who absolutely rips through tiny skateparks. No matter what your skill level is, this board will serve you well if you’re looking to pick up a fingerboard on the run.
Final Thoughts
The Slushcult GROM X NoHours board is lovely in terms of quality, it feels like a true miniature skateboard.
The single sided bearings on the wheels are awesome quality and spin for quite some time. The trucks are well made and the O-ring bushings provide a perfect stable but steezy setup for beginners.
If you’re looking for a fingerboard company that is widely available and respected by the greater fingerboarding community, Slushcult will be on the top of your list.
We Recommend the Slushcult GROM If You:
