RECAP: Sapphic Shred 2 - January Boogaloo

Welcome the January 2026 Edition of Sapphic Shred: The Queer Hobby Hangout.

The second edition of the Sapphic Shred took place on January 18th, 2026 to once again give sapphics and their curious allies a place to share hobbies and make new friends. While we took a break for the holidays, our attendees returned with some incredible activities (tiny baby painting, anyone?).

I was not as nervous this time around because so many people said that they were excited! Thank you so much to everyone who came to Sapphic Shred this month, and those who brought new friends along.

And now for the event recap for those who could not make it and wanted to ~ you can feel like you were there!

Setting Up

We started prep for the Shred at around 8:00 am (boo). However, knowing what you’re doing and having a list makes getting ready to shred a whole lot easier — who knew.

The only bump in the road was not being able to find any Tech Decks for fingerboard giveaways. I ended up supplying the giveaway with some of my handpainted fingerboards.

With another cooler full of Pepsi, 7-Up, waters, and a valiant hummus dip to bring to the snack table, Sapphic Shred made it to Dolores Park (and on time, with a snack table and a wagon). We really are going up in the world here, thanks Cameron.

My mom also asked if we had women owned wine to “lure bitches in”, no we didn’t but we’ll keep that in mind for next time.

Parking was much luckier this time around for everyone as Cameron and I were all set up by 12:35 pm today.

The Event

Due to the funeral of San Francisco’s infamous Claude the Albino Crocodile, we had a later crowd coming on in.

Sapphic Square, the first fingerboard park by Sapphics for Sapphics, also made its return to the event. Fingerboards and fingerboard lessons were also given out to some eager riders, as always. I also tuned up resident skater Mack’s Obsius Fingerboard from our last Sapphic Shred, which she told me rode like a dream throughout the holidays (thanks again, OBFB)!

Sapphic Shred once again lasted for like 6 hours and it was pretty neat. I always keep in mind that some people don’t have big social batteries, time out of work, enough spoons, or other commitments. We try to stay late to make sure this space exists for as long as it can and to include everyone no matter what their day looks like.

From Ivy wrapping rings to Cameron crocheting a new toy for Rio, to playing Catan with Indiana and painting tiny babies with Daria and Jasmine, Sapphic Shred once again surprised me in the most lovely of ways.

Another successful shred thanks to you! Check out what we captured yesterday below.
